Hi there, I think this is mamaku otherwise known as the black tree fern (Cyathea medullaris) closely related to ponga (in the same genus: Cyathea) but this is lacking the silver frond undersides, the colour of the unfurling fronds and how the plant holds itself also points towards mamaku. cheers

It's a silver fern, Native to the New Zealand... the leaves are silver on the underside and also our national symbol http://www.thefernbrand.co.nz
